Our tips for making the most of your stay

Here are some tips to make your stay in the Grand Ried as pleasant as possible:

Before setting off on your adventure, check out the weather forecasts and equip yourself with a plan or an updated map of your tour. Good preparation is the assurance of a peaceful moment.

Remember to bring:

  • water (and a small plastic bag in case of leaks),
  • a snack,
  • a garbage bag for your waste,
  • sunscreen,
  • a first aid kit (disinfectant, scissors, bandages, adhesive tape, etc.).

Use a suitable repellent and wear long, loose-fitting clothing, especially in summer. At the end of your walk, inspect your body for ticks.

Stay on the designated paths in order to protect biodiversity andavoid any risk of disorientation or deterioration of natural environments.

A quick check is required: tires, brakes, bell, lights... Don't forget your helmet (mandatory for children under 12) and remember to bring a repair kit (patches, glue, pump, etc.).

Let's protect nature; every piece of trash counts. A plastic bag takes 100 years to degrade, a cigarette butt 2 years, and a can between 100 and 500 years. Always take your trash home with you.

Swimming in the Rhine is prohibited: the currents are strong and dangerous. Instead, head to the safe waters of the Grand Ried to cool off.

Admire wildlife from a distance. Do not attempt to approach. And above all, never touch a young animal: it risks being rejected by its mother.

Some plants are protected or essential to the ecosystem. Leave them where they are for everyone to enjoy.

For your safety, find out about current hunting periods from tourist offices or town halls.

The official hunting season opening dates are set by the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS) and published on the website https://www.chasseurdefrance.com/pratiquer/dates-de-chasse/federation-departementale-du-bas-rhin/
Don't hesitate to check if the dates of your hike correspond to hunting seasons. If they do, don't panic!

You can contact the local hunt http://fdc67.fr/ or town halls to find out the dates and locations of hunting.

Once there, pay attention to the sound and visual environment.

Waste sorting is a tradition in Alsace.
For any questions regarding the management of these, please contact your hosts or consult the website of the Smictom.
