EuroVelo 15 - Rhine Cycle Route
The Rhine rises in the Alps near Andermatt, where EuroVelo 15 begins and ends at Hook of Holland near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. From Andermatt to Basel, EuroVelo 15, known as the "Rhein Route" to German-speaking Swiss, stretches for approximately 430 km and runs along Lake Constance.
In France, it is called the "Rhine Cycle Route" when it crosses the Rhine at Huningue and extends for approximately 223 km to Lauterbourg. Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament with its famous cathedral, is located directly on its route. It also passes within easy reach of Mulhouse and Colmar.
In Alsace, the Rhine Cycle Route partially follows the towpaths of the Huningue Canal and the Rhône-Rhine Canal – Northern Branch, built in the 19th century. Subsequently, crossing Germany, EuroVelo 15 becomes the "Rheinradweg" and then the "Rijnfietsroute" in the Netherlands.
