The Virgin Chapel, nicknamed "Oberkirche," stands at the entrance to Hindisheim, in the middle of the cemetery. Characterized by its half-timbered bell tower and large porch, this popular sanctuary is part of the village's living heritage. It underwent a complete interior restoration in 2018-2019.

The first traces of this chapel date from the 14thrd century. From this period, only the walls and the axial window probably remain. The rest was probably rebuilt in the 16rd  century: above the entrance door is a figure from 1553, the date on which it was the seat of a chaplaincy whose holder was appointed by the commune. The cornice and the windows of the choir date from the 18th centuryrd century.

Sold during the Revolution, the chapel was reopened for worship in 1813. Restored in 1832, it became a place of pilgrimage to obtain the blessing of working the land as well as protection against certain diseases and epidemics.

The chapel is dedicated of course to the Virgin, but also to the 14 holy intercessors known as the holy helpers. The 14 statues representing them are quite diverse. The choir is distinguished by a magnificent high altar dating from the 18th century.rd century, in the Baroque style. In the niche, the Virgin and Child Sovereign, and on the ceiling the fresco of the Coronation of the Virgin. People continue to come to pray in this chapel which is open during the day.
