Werde Castle, on the banks of the Ill

At the place called "Woerth", southeast of the village of Matzenheim, stood the castle of which a large county wall remains with some earthworks and a vaulted cellar under the building. The Counts of Werde, Landgrave of Alsace, are mentioned in the 12th century, noting the birth of the castle in 1185.
Various owners followed one another, and in the 17th century, the fortified castle was transformed into a residential castle. Today, the current owners, the Million family, have completely renovated and decorated the castle with passion, and welcome you, in bed and breakfast, in a historic and enchanting setting.
