Botanical trail: Riedian forests
Set off along the Blind River, a spring-fed watercourse, to discover the landscapes of the Ried. This botanical trail is marked and adorned with tree identification signs, and nearly 20 interpretive panels reveal its many facets. A detour allows you to glimpse a tumulus where a Celtic chariot and an ivory-hilted sword were discovered, a mission cross, and, more recently, a dozen benches and two picnic tables have been added to enhance the trail. One of the most interesting sites in the Alsace plain to discover with the family. A historical and natural guide is available at the town halls of Ohnenheim and Elsenheim. The botanical trail is also equipped with a dozen geocaches, each more original than the last.
For children, the treasure hunt will allow you to enjoy a fun and educational family outing for half a day.
The trail features two shelters for walkers, providing picnic areas and protection from the elements: one at the Elsenheim entrance, after the old Peterschmitt sawmill, and the other at the Ohnenheim entrance, extending from the mill. Thank you for respecting and preserving the good condition of the area.
